Newly Published Author Debut in the Newspaper

Sitting in a crowded, loud Starbucks for a late afternoon interview with the newspaper editor is always a thrill. Thankfully, I have had a bit of experience with him by now. I’ve worked with him for a few years, not only with my daytime (Clark Kent) job but also when I had my shorts dubbed Temerarious Tabias ran for near a year in the newspaper.

So that bit of experience meant my anxiety wasn’t through the roof when I met with the editor and he asked questions about my writing. I don’t know how I do my writing, I don’t know why or really when as my memory is shit. But I do know one thing, no matter how sour a day or a mood, if I can fall into my writing, it makes me feel good.

Plus I’ve had some really positive feedback from my first published novel- YA Fantasy Thriller- Justyce Scales of the Otherly and Obscura.

So all that practiced me for a slightly less than awkward interview, because that is what I am. An awkward adult.

But at the end of that interview, the editor put together a really great article and, AND, he gave me nearly 3/4 of a page in the newspaper!

Wow!! That made my day, for sure.
