Hi, my name is Norma Rrae, and I’m a northern living author. (Pics of northern stuff and books on Instagram.)
I live in BC, Canada, with my husband, teen daughter and three large dogs (check out my TikTok for the dog antics.) I have three more children/step-children that have moved out or live with other parents, plus a grandson that is a fiery redhead (yes, I’m a young grandma, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.)
My hobbies? You guessed it: writing. But there’s also reading, photography, poetry, gardening, hunting and fishing.
I read all the books I can. My home luckily features a built-in bookshelf. I find inspiration from Pinterest for organizing my bookshelf. It keeps me sane in the long northern winters. I’m also a sucker for buying books, especially from authors I meet. Even authors I connect with online, my coolest catch was a signed copy from an author in England.
I work as a Pharmacy Technician at the local hospital. I love house cleaning with music on Saturday mornings. I’m still deathly scared everytime my husband takes me hunting. I love the photos, the rush of adrenaline and the courage I gain. Somedays, he even gets me pulled away from my laptop long enough for dog walking along rivers,
My bookshelf and wood heat fireplace make my home perfect.
And my favourite thing to do is sit in front of the fire writing.
One of the first things I remember learning about being a writer was to read. Read everything; the good, the bad and the ugly. I’m a very slow reader. So that makes my Goodreads challenge hard. I wake up early before work to read every morning with my coffee while laying in bed, cuddling my dogs. At night, I snuggle in and read for nearly ten whole minutes before I fall asleep.
I’m currently writing my seventh novel- Indiscernible, my first horror,
I also frequently write new material for you guys to read here (short stories/poems) and outline future books when I’m famous and have time to sit down and write them all. Those stories spill out of me at random times.
My first published novel is coming with Archway Publishing (sublet of Simon and Schuster) in 2021. Cattywampus is a YA Fantasy, and you can click above (NOVELS) to read the blurb.
With the great success of my Not Me novel running online, I have begun outlining a second along with that same genre (Adult Literary Fiction.)
Online right now is Flee Obscura, a YA Thriller, and it’s bi-weekly plus my serial poems, which are every three days or so.
My first publication, a spicy romance short story, White Sheets, is available now. Click here to purchase the Anthology- Hot Moroccan Nights- where White Sheets is featured.
Stay healthy
Much love,
Norma Rrae

Good idea making this a query!
Have you considered self-publishing? Someone suggested it to me, kindle version…I’m on the fence.

I have some of my work published with a small house in Ireland, but the majority of them have been self-published. Currently just e-books (as book formatting seems to be beyond my skill set) It’s a little scary, but it isn’t hard.

Pleasure to meet you, fellow writer and fellow slow reader. I wonder if you’re like me – you don’t just read words, you have to direct the movie in your mind? Still, I get through at least one book a month by listening to audio books while I cook. Looking forward to checking out Flee Obscura. 🙂

Congratulations on your perseverance, and getting your work published. All of us writers have to answer the question for ourselves – why do we write, who do we write for? Be well.

Dear Norma,
Thank you for choosing to follow my blog, Bobbing Around. I hope my words will be of service to you for a long time.
There are many writing-related essays there, mostly under “Rhobin’s Round Robin.”

You have published a lot of books, which takes some dedication and, of course, a lot of love for your craft. I’m a slow reader, too, and like you, I always fall asleep on whatever I’m reading at night. Still, I couldn’t imagine a day without reading or writing nowadays. Many congratulations on the works you’ve published so far, Norma.
